First of all we want to thank all of our members for your business. we want to explain our challenges of milking sheep and feeding no grain. It takes some really good hay to keep them milking through winter once they are out of grass , even then they tend to dry off when cold weather comes. last summer we had a great supply of milk . In the fall there was more of a limited supply even we had around 20 ewes freshening through Oct.and Nov. which was very unusual.this give us a limited supply of sheep milk all winter. HOW to have this fall lambing happen again we are questioning ,as it never happened before for us.so how we do explain to our members how nature works with sheep? being seasonal , usually laming in spring. The biggest volume of sheep milk comes in the spring . the biggest request for fresh sheep milk is in the fall.our goal is to freeze enough milk to help our milk supply in the winter . But frozen milk is not quite like fresh milk anymore . how ever we learned that freezing milk in the first 24 hours at (-0) degree with force air is a great advantage as it thaws out a lot better with hardly any flakes.we like to wait till late June to start freezing for the winter , keeping milk as fresh as possible for the winter and getting enough in the freezer before production really drops in Aug. and Sept. the diet of our sheep is a fresh plat of grass twice a day in grazing . season , and are fed organized . Alfalfa pellets are fed in very limited a mounts only to ture them to the barn for milking. Also free choice hay and natural minerals. we are leaving the lamps with ewes because we don't need all the milk in the early spring plus it makes nice lamps and the lamp market seems good . we are hoping to continue serving you with 100% grass based sheep milk hoping it beneficial to the people health - wise. I you are happy with our product tell others. If there are complaints tell us! we have care inspections and regular milk tests are done by DHIA once a month. pathogens test done once a year . water test twice a year . Any ideas , questions, or complaints , concerning this letter, our product , or prices. Lets talk!
